Annette Greenwood is a personal life coach who has worked within the prison system. It was here the seeds of this, her first novel Imprisoned Heart, were born. The story is about Katrina Sanderson, an innocent victim of circumstance. Wrong place, wrong man, wrong time! Sentenced to prison for a crime she did not commit, where power hungry officers blackmail for sex. How will she get through the next 12 months? A compelling account of triumph over adversity, empowerment and a love so strong nothing can break it.

A word from Annette on Imprisoned Heart…
Writing this novel took twelve months around a full time job, but the following eight years to publication have been the most challenging and rewarding.
I could spend hours acknowledging everyone who has been part of this journey from inmates, prison officers, and publishing houses that turned me down flat making me more determined.
My intention for this novel is to show the reader despite how difficult things are there is always opportunity for change. I personally overcame many obstacles and challenges to continue writing imprisoned Heart, so for me this truly feels part of my life’s purpose.
My sincere thanks and heartfelt love go to the following people for helping make my dream a reality.
Kate who saw something in me many others had failed to, this inspired me to write Imprisoned Heart. Jean alias ‘Wandering Star’ one of my closest friends who we sadly lost to cancer whilst I was in the middle of writing. Jean confided to me before she died, her only wish was to have finished her own book, this spurred me on. Paulo Coelho, author of the Alchemist. Paulo overcame many difficulties to become a successful author and I often drew inspiration from him going through my own rough times. Especially when others did not have the same faith in me that I had in myself.
Kate Lawrence my chinwags friend who has supported me throughout all of those difficulties. She always knew I had talent.
I owe much to Adaptation Practice (AP) and Clive Sherlock the Doctor who pioneered it. AP has changed my life beyond recognition. For the last twenty years I have put myself wholeheartedly into this practice and for my efforts the rewards have been immense.
When writing Imprisoned Heart, I adopted the same principles putting myself wholeheartedly into each character. I lived them, breathed them and got to know them intimately. I brought them alive especially the main character Katrina Sanderson whom I am especially fond of because she has so much of me in her.
My beloved Mother sadly passed away in 2016. She grew up at a time where women stayed at home, cleaned and didn’t have careers. She always knew I was a trailblazer believing in my talents but preferring to call it spirited!
My Father is one of my cheerleaders, who at 86 tells me I am a clever girl when I bring him any news of what I am up to next! I think he forgets how old I am!
My Sister Debbie, who wonders what I am up to next, friends who keep asking, when is this book out? Clients old and new who also ask the same question. Thank you for your patience the time has come, so get ready!
Antonia Brindle who painstakingly edited the final version. She has become a friend and an integral part of this journey nudging me to change the ending, encouraging me to speak at networking events and share my life story to empower others. We have shared many confidences. My sincere thanks, love and blessings to you x
To my husband John who nearly left this earth a short while ago but miraculously lived. We have made it a daily habit to make jokes about his near death experience. That time taught me to seize the moment, don’t put things off, make choices that serve me and follow my dreams with the intention of making them a reality. Despite challenges and setbacks our unwavering love has survived the tests of time and seen us through the other side. We have both changed and grown together and I truly believe that’s a pretty special place to be. John you are my biggest fan and I love you very much X
Lastly to me Annette Greenwood. Thank you for staying the course when the going got tough, never giving up on those dreams, trusting my gut, believing in myself and forging ahead whatever the odds. Ignoring the naysayers who told me I couldn’t, I listened to my heart instead which told me I could. For following my path when it seemed scary and having the courage to speak my own truth.
Whoever you are reading this right now, then I urge you to do just the same and be your own trailblazer.
