Mid Life Fun.
Having been through the menopause including, hot sweats, mood swings and emotional upheaval that goes with it. I have successfully come out the other side. So I am always at pains to offer anything to other women I think you may find useful. On this particular occasion humour is the order of the day. The way I see it is this, you can either sit around in your dressing gown bemoaning the fact that you’re in mid- life or you can get your act together, turn it into a positive time and have some fun. Who says you can’t have red hair in your 50’s or paint your toenails purple in your 60’s. Who for that matter has the right to tell you just because you’re drawing the state pension you must be sensible?
And why would you listen to the nay-sayers when you can experience a new adventure!
Go for it.
I’m not suggesting you do something recklessly dangerous, but just because you’re a woman of a certain age doesn’t mean you can’t push the boundaries a little. I mean come on ladies what’s life for if not for living? I’m not saying anything’s wrong with taking up flower arranging or painting porcelain, it just won’t float everyone’s boat I know it doesn’t float mine.
The old saying when life gives you lemons make lemonade comes to mind. So when life brings the menopause do something remarkable. Write a book, start a small business take drama classes or do something you have always wanted to do but never dared to try. From experience the fact I began martial arts classes last year and achieved a yellow belt in a short space of time gave me immense pride and amused my husband no end, until I practised on him!
Whatever happens don’t forget you sense of humour and have a giggle at the menopause it can do you the world of good. On a light note, if you’re in your 40’s 50’s or 60’s I hope the following raises a smile.
Mid- life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired moustache.
Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless.
Having choices can be empowering and part of my work as a personal coach is to help you explore options. Whether just starting in the menopause and finding it a scary experience or have come to a point where you are ready for a new challenge. The menopause brings wisdom and a youthful exuberance that you don’t find in your 20’s and 30’s so make the most of it.
Having personal coaching in the menopause is a great way great to explore this new phase of life.
