Inspiration can come in many ways and at any time. I run a women’s support group for anyone who wants to drop in and enjoy the many benefits it offers. We often have a guest speaker and this week’s topic was about living positively with mental health. I was delighted when in the break one of the women came up to me teary eyed and said.
“I am so inspired by what’s been said today it’s made me re-think what I want to do with my life. I feel like crying. I would love to be able to help someone else the way they are helping others.”
It may not sound like much but for her it was a huge step. I have seen the changes over the last few months since she began coming to the group. From being really shy to speaking up and joining in. She’s has now found her voice and a new purpose and in a small way that morning she was inspired and her life had changed.
We often forget how every day it’s the little things that can have the most impact in terms of inspiration. Just seeing a smile in the midst of a crisis, a child laughing, listening to someone who has overcome an illness, talking to someone who has been through the war, a piece of music, a sunrise the list goes on. These are just a few examples of how I have been inspired personally. Earlier this year when my brother passed away suddenly one of my neighbours brought me a beautiful pot plant daffodil. She said. “I hope every time you look at this it will remind you of him.”
Her kindness was so inspiring and touching.
We live in a busy world its and its so easy to get caught up in every day activities. There are little miracles happening all around us we just don’t always take the time to notice them. When was the last time you felt inspired? Next time you go to work, are standing in a bus queue, or taking your dog for a walk. Take time to observe what’s going on around you. Become aware of others in their day. We all face challenges on a daily basis and its nice to know we can still be inspired in this world no matter what’s happening.
Challenge yourself for the next week to find some small inspiration in every day.
