When you meet the partner of your dreams you would never expect 10, 15, 20 years down the line that the relationship would be tested severely. My experience both professionally and personally tells a very different story. A story that for many woman is very real and happening now.
This may come in the form of an affair, health problem addiction to alcohol, drugs or gambling. The bottom line is its painful, stressful, tearing relationships and families apart. The myriad of emotions you go through at times feels like you’re on a roller coaster. In can affect self-esteem, confidence, undermine you as a woman, it becomes hard to see the rosy future you had planned.
Whether you are still in a relationship, have moved on or reeling from the after effects. This blog offers support and a way forward so you gain back self-respect, feel better about yourself and restores your ability to believe things can and will get better.
The first thing you must do is forgive yourself for any mistakes you may have made. If you are still in the relationship that’s fine you have your reasons. Sometimes it’s about timing but you will know when the timing is right.
The second thing is if your partner had an affair I really want to stress you really do deserve better. If you decide to stay and try again then that’s entirely your choice despite what your friends might say. And if you decide enough is enough and decide to leave then that’s perfectly ok too.
The third thing to remember is this. Nothing stays the same, this too will pass and those dark days will be replaced by good days and plenty of them.
The fourth thing is to accept and love yourself just as you are warts and all. Don’t get into blaming, shaming or give yourself a hard time.
The fifth thing is. You will come out the other side a different woman, whilst you may not realise it now you will be stronger, wiser, knowing exactly what you want and ready to make a plan for your new and exciting future.
